First book of the year hosted at Book Journey

I’m joining Sheila at Book Journey  for the First Book of 2019.

The Flight of Gemma Hardy By Margot Livesey is set in Iceland and Scotland, a literary inspiration from Jane Eyre. This has been on my to-read list for many years so why not tackle something from my old Goodreads list.

This modern retelling of a classic takes us from the moors and visits Iceland and the Scottish Orkney islands. I’m looking forward to this one and will report back after I’m done.

Thank you, Sheila, for inviting me again this year!

  1. I’m intrigued and looking forward to your review of this one! I liked Jane Eyre and I really like the idea of a change of location.

You asked about the Tornado’s birthday – it’s the 29th so we always make sure we have a bit of a to do so that it stands out from Christmas. We also have a rule that no one is allowed to give joint gifts. Luckily I have enough relatives that have close to Christmas birthdays that I didn’t have to make a big deal of that one! He actually really likes having a birthday close to Christmas. The whole month of December is kind of the month of him.

    • That’s wonderful, Katherine. We always made sure Tristan’s birthday was completely separate. His wife is a December baby too so we certainly celebrate in December!
