Queen Elizabeth’s address to the nation for #BriFri

I listened to Queen Elizabeth’s address and felt very moved.  It was a wonderful speech, the most inspiring speech I have heard from any head of state since this crisis.

While we have faced challenges before, this one is different. This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavor, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal.”

We will succeed – and that success will belong to every one of us,” she said.

We should take comfort that, while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”

Did you listen to this speech?  I found it heartwarming and wish our world had more people like her to inspire rather than point a finger or boast. Well done, Queen Elizabeth.

  1. Yes, I listened to and was also deeply moved by the speech. Such calm, empathy and inspiration. That’s leadership.
And of course the queen’s referencing the evacuation of the children really hit home as my mother and her two younger brothers were in that number. It was a very difficult but necessary sacrifice for those families.
Hope everyone at British Isles Friday Is doing well. Stay Calm & Stay Home.

    • Sim, we are most definitely staying home these days. Yes, my husband played that speech I found it very inspirational, very calming and thought about the evacuations from previous wars. I have only read about them but I see your family knows first hand. What a scary time, you need someone to look up to at those challenging times.

  2. Queen Elizabeth is definitely a very impressive leader. It was touching that she used the same words that she had used in her speech when she was 14 years old and the war was threatening on a scale that even the current pandemic doesn’t match (luckily).
